- Reduced Storage of Paperwork – CII stores all I-9 Documentation and results of the employment eligibility search for a minimum of 7 years.
- Ensures a Legally Authorized Workforce – The E-Verify system electronically compares information entered on the Employment Verification, Form I-9, with records contained in the Social Security Administration and DHS databases to help employers verify the identity and employment eligibility of newly hired employees.
How it Works
I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification searches are conducted through the Department of Homeland Security’s E-Verify system. The E-Verify system compares information entered on Form I-9 with records in the Social Security Administration and DHS databases in order to verify the identity and employment eligibility of new hires.
Like the I-9 process, E-Verify should be completed within three business days of the applicant’s hire date. Penalties levied by the DHS for non-compliance with the three-day rule range from $500 to $1500 per incident
