Although employers may find this process advantageous the pros and cons are worth considering before making any final decisions. On the “Pro” side you have reduction of errors, cost savings, increased organization and interfacing with E-Verify. A new frontier in I-9 processing came into effect in April 2005 when it became permissible for employers to store electronic versions of completed I-9 Forms rather than paper versions.
